Met Montis, Goudsmit en Directie heeft Nederland er een krachtig souljazztrio bij. Hammondorganist Frank Montis kwam via The Soul Snatchers en Laura Vane & The Vipertones terecht bij Gare Du Nord. Anton Goudsmit kennen we als gitarist van New Cool Collective en The Ploctones. Eerder in 2019 verstekrte hij Bruut! op hun cd Go Surfing, vol met ruige surfmuziek. Drummer Cyril Directie speelde onder andere met Hans en Candy Dulfer en The Postmen. Met hun trio komen zij bijzonder veelzijdig uit de hoek. Taste Of Culture opent met funky souljazz (Dimongo Special, CEO), gooit vervolgens alle remmen los (Don Rocko), om daarna liefelijk en teder uit de hoek te komen (R U In Love?), en later onheilspellend te driegen (RHB), maar ook hun draai te kunnen vinden in subtiele, ingetogen precisiefunk (Joppa Dengé). Verder nog Jan, een rhythm 'n blues uitsmijter met Jan Akkerman als gast en covers van Living For The City en Let's Stay Together. Een enorme aanwinst voor de Nederlandse podia.
